Nintendo Begins Holiday Advertising Blitz With Metroid Commercial
Fall is in the air and Nintendo is wasting no time gearing up for what’s sure to be a massive holiday season. After almost two years on the market, the company has single handedly brought the home video game industry back from the dead. With an arsenal of arcade hits and completely original titles, both Nintendo and its elite team of third party licensees are ready to make retailers’ registers sing this holiday with almost 100 games available for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
Nintendo has already begun airing commercials regularly for its biggest game of the year: The Legend of Zelda. Now it’s devoting some airtime to some of its other Game Paks. The first one to get the honor is Metroid, a new game in the Adventure Series that has you exploring an alien planet filled with monstrosities that you must blast into oblivion. The game features an innovative password system so you don’t have to lose your progress when you shut off the console. It’s a very short commercial, but one thing that caught our eye is it’s the first time Nintendo has shown off its new joystick, the NES Advantage. That accessory should be available everywhere the NES is sold later this month for $49.95.
We’ve just put the finishing touches on Metroid the other day and will have a full review up very soon. Let’s just say you won’t be disappointed with the latest game from Nintendo!
