Rad Racer & Out Run Reviewed By Ed Semrad

Racing games have been around since the dawn of arcades and home consoles. Every year it seems like new graphic techniques are discovered to create even more realistic driving simulators. This holiday season two racers go head-to-head on competing consoles: Out Run for the Sega Master System and Rad Racer for the Nintendo Entertainment System. One definitely has the better title (OutRun), but both actually play very well.

Ed Semrad from the Milwaukee Journal gives a nod to Out Run as the better game, but then again he does like Sega in general more so that’s to be expected. Having played Out Run in the arcades I can vouch that it’s a fantastic racing game, so it’s good to see a good home conversion make its way to Sega’s console. Rad Racer is a completely original title from Nintendo, but it shares many of the same ideas with Sega’s game. We have our full review of Rad Racer right here. Ed likes both racers (Rad Racer gets a 9 out of 10 and Out Run is awarded a 10+ out of 10), so it looks like no matter which system you own, you’ll have a quality racing experience this Christmas!
