Ed Semrad Reviews Super Pitfall, Top Gun, Zanac & Arkanoid

Ed Semrad has delivered his opinions on some of the latest NES game releases via his Video Adventures column in the December 19, 1987 edition of The Milwaukee Journal. As with any review, sometimes you’ll agree and sometimes you won’t. We find it somewhat shocking that he considers Super Pitfall a perfect 10 out of 10. We found it to be severely lacking in the controls department and the graphics were pretty primitive to boot. As far as adventure games go, we highly recommend The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Rygar, or The Goonies II instead.

We agree that Arkanoid is a lot of fun, but perhaps his scoring on Top Gun and Zanac are a bit too high. They’re not bad, but not exceptional. Still, everyone has different tastes, right? Let us know what you think of these games in the comments below.
