Star Fox Guard Preview
Initially shown two years ago at E3 as Project Guard, this game has been repurposed with Slippy from the Star Fox universe (and his Uncle Grippy – I’m not kidding). Part Night Trap, part Short Circuit, Star Fox Guard is a unique idea that requires the Game Pad and a TV to play.
You’ll be watching twelve different security cameras on the television to stop the incoming robot invasion. It looks like R.O.B. from the NES has gone completely evil and is now bent on world domination. The game is controlled by a single person, but it can be helpful to have people direct you to specific camera feeds if they see any movement. The game features over 100 levels of spy action thrills, but you can increase that number by downloading new levels from players that create them. Similar to Super Mario Maker, you will be able to design your own creations and upload them for others to play. It remains to be seen how enticing this game will be, but I’m willing to give it a shot.
Star Fox Guard is going to be included as a retail disc release for free with Star Fox Zero. If you would like to purchase it separately you will be able to do so through the eShop for $14.99 If you choose to go digital, you will receive a $4.99 coupon toward the purchase of Star Fox Zero ($49.99 digitally), which would bring the bundle to $59.99 – the same price as the disc versions.
