The collaboration between Atlus and Nintendo has created a unique property with Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (sharp Fire Emblem). It combines characters and elements from both the Shin Megami Tensei series as well as the Fire Emblem franchise. The game itself is wholly unique from both of them and centers around Pop star idols who must do battle against the forces of evil.

The game itself is set in Japan and has a distinct Eastern flavor to it. It combines hardcore RPG elements with anime and music to create a memorable experience. Although it didn’t light up the sales charts in its home country, it could find a footing over here when it’s released on June 24 for the Wii U. Nintendo and Atlus aren’t dubbing the voices, so you’ll hear the original acting with subtitles. Many people who have played the Japanese version have been very happy with the game, and although I was initially skeptical of the title, I’ve come to warm up to it as I’ve read and seen more about it.

From what I’ve been told, just don’t go in expecting a Fire Emblem or Shin Megami game and you won’t be disappointed. The Wii U doesn’t get many Japanese RPGs, so this will be a great summer title to blast through. Those attending PAX East this weekend will get a chance to try out a show floor demo. Hopefully Nintendo will release the same demo on the eShop to get the game some exposure before launch. Until then, I’ll keep updating this page with new screens, videos, and information as it breaks.
