I’m going into nostalgia overload this fall. First up is the NES Classic Edition, the mini-console that comes bundled with 30 NES games. It releases on November 11, 2016, and around the same time Prima Games is bringing out a new book focused on a selection of the best 8-bit NES games of the era.
This hardcover tome looks similar to a big NES Game Pak and will have 320 pages packed with information, game maps, artwork, vintage advertising, and even excerpts from Nintendo Power magazine. It will also feature a retrospective on 17 NES games, including The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Donkey Kong.
I’m excited to check out this trip down memory lane. It will be interesting to see how this book compares to the unofficial NES/Famicom Visual Compendium book that was successfully Kickstarted and will be available around February of 2017. No matter what, it’s great to see some effort being placed in documenting the classic NES games.
