Ever since the My Nintendo loyalty site was launched in March, many loyal Nintendo fans have felt that it was a poor substitution for Club Nintendo, which was discontinued. I have to agree that, for the most part, the rewards so far have been less than stellar. At least Club Nintendo would feature physical goods from time to time, as well as actual digital products that could be downloaded. So far My Nintendo seems to focus heavily on discounts for game downloads.
For many consumers, including me, I already own most of the games they want to give me discounts on. It would be nice if Nintendo wouldn’t limit the software choices and instead just offer up a discount code that could be used anywhere on the eShop. If they want to exclude third party games then I’m even fine with that. But, as it is, the rewards that have been offered fall way short of what the previous reward site had.
That being said, Nintendo has updated its My Nintendo rewards site today with new discounts. Perhaps these will excite some of you out there. As for me, I’ll probably waste my Platinum Points on some more Miitomo tickets because it’s better than letting them expire.
