Rumor: Super Smash Bros. Switch Port Holding Back Amiibo

This latest rumor comes straight from Laura Dale, who has frequently delivered accurate news in the past regarding the Nintendo Switch. According to her there will be a port of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U to the Switch and it will include all of the DLC released. Furthermore, the remaining Smash amiibo figures that haven’t yet been released, most notably Cloud from Final Fantasy VII and Bayonetta, will launch alongside the game. According to her sources, the Smash game will not be a launch title, but rather hit within the first six months of the system’s life. That could spell an awfully long wait for those hoping to secure the final figures in the collection.

There have been rumblings over the past six months that Nintendo would port a slew of Wii U games over to the Switch to help pad out its first year of releases. Logically this makes perfect sense as it not only makes the library larger, but the user base on the Wii U was so tiny that many gamers missed out on some fantastic software. Some of the candidates we have heard besides Smash were Mario Kart 8, Super Mario Maker, and Splatoon. From the Switch reveal trailer we know that Mario Kart and Splatoon are indeed in the works, but whether they end up being full sequels or enhanced ports remains to be seen.
