Nintendo’s Nominations For The Game Awards 2016
In just a few weeks The Game Awards 2016 will broadcast live and the industry will be celebrated. It’s always a fun time to see what games will win the awards. This year has been on the light side for Nintendo releases as the Wii U winds down. The 3DS saw a slew of great games, especially Japanese RPGs, but as is predicted most of the nominees for awards are western developed console titles. Still, games for Nintendo systems are nominated, such as:
Best Role Playing Games
- Dark Souls 3
- Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine
- World of Warcraft: Legion
- Xenoblade Chronicles X
Best Fighting Game
- Killer Instinct Season 3
- King of Fighters XIV
- Pokkén Tournament
- Street Fighter V
Best Family Game
- Dragon Quest Builders
- LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens
- Pokémon GO
- Ratchet & Clank
- Skylanders: Imaginators
Best Strategy Games
- Civilization VI
- Fire Emblem Fates
- The Banner Saga 2
- Total War: Warhammer
- XCOM 2
Best Fan Creation
- Project AM2R
- Pokémon Uranium
- Brutal Doom 64
- Enderal: The Shards of Order
Most Anticipated Game
- God of War
- Horizon: Zero Dawn
- Mass Effect: Andromeda
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Of course, in addition to awards, the show often has previews of upcoming games and never-before seen trailers. In fact, way back at the 2014 Game Awards we saw Zelda: Breath of the Wild being played by Mr. Aonuma. I wouldn’t count on any Nintendo announcements at this year’s show, since Nintendo has gone on record as saying we won’t hear more about Nintendo Switch until January 12, 2017.
The Game Awards 2016 will air live on Thursday, December 1 at 6 pm PT / 8 pm CT / 9 pm ET. Go here to see where you can watch it.
