Nintendo Switch Retail Marketing Begins
Now that the busy Christmas shopping season is over, Nintendo can concentrate on marketing and promoting its new shiny system, the Nintendo Switch. Retailers across the world will begin converting some of their Wii U sections to Switch as the release date is just months away. It made sense for Nintendo to stay focused on 3DS and Wii U through the end of the year as to not cause confusion at retailers, but we’re now hearing that stores will be putting up signage within the next week.
This has already taken place in Australia at some JB Hi-Fi stores. A picture of a small display showed up on Reddit.
According to some folks out there, some retailers in Europe have had Switch signs up since November. Another user on Reddit just posted a picture of what awaits at GAME, a U.K. gaming retailer. Notice it still lists The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as March. The latest rumors suggest it might be bumped back to summer, but I’d take it in March!
In addition, Go Nintendo reported that GameStop locations will be receiving signs to put up next week, but that some locations may already be implementing the changes this week. So far all of the marketing elements appear to be stock photos that Nintendo has already released back in October. In other words, we don’t expect any revelations from the signs and certainly don’t expect to see box art of the actual cases or systems until closer to or after the January 12 reveal. Of course, if this does occur we’ll keep you updated.
