Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove & Specter Of Torment Announced For Switch

One of the best 2D platform games to release over the past few years is Shovel Knight. It not only looks and sounds like an 8-bit classic, but it plays extraordinarily well. It’s great to get confirmation that the game is heading to the Nintendo Switch. Also, the new version will include two player co-op without the need for the amiibo.

If you want the existing game and everything that’s coming, you’ll want to pick up the Treasure Trove edition. If you’d rather just stick with a standalone version (which we assume will be cheaper), then you have the following options:

Soon, the game you now know as Shovel Knight will become Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. When that happens, you’ll also have new options to purchase each campaign as separate, standalone games on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC/Mac/Linux, and Nintendo Switch:

Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope – Shovel of Hope is our new name for the original Shovel Knight game, since it needed a title like the others. What do you think!? Rewatch the adventure here.

Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows – Plague Knight’s Campaign emerges from the Shadows to hopefully get some recognition this time! Watch it all here.

Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment – Specter of Torment is our most expansive campaign yet. We’re so excited for you to become the reaper! See Specter Knight in action here.

No word on release date just yet. Hopefully we’ll find out more at the Switch reveal!
