Nintendo To Announce Third Quarter Earnings Tuesday

Nintendo is set to reveal its nine months earning release on Tuesday, January 31 after the stock market closes for the day in Japan. The following day it will hold a corporate strategy meeting. It’s expected that overall revenue from Nintendo will be down in its third quarter when compared to the prior year. However, it could actually post a higher profit for the same period because of an increase in software sales where its margin is greater. The biggest contributor is expected to be Pokemon Sun and Moon.

Nintendo has previously mentioned that it planned to have 2 million Nintendo Switch consoles ready to ship for the month of March. Given the success of its pre-order campaign, especially in Japan and North America, may will look to see if Nintendo adjusts that number up to help meet demand.

We also might get a closer look at how Super Mario Run performed in the market. We don’t expect Nintendo to break out specific data for that game, but we might get some nuggets of information. The game is set to arrive on Android devices in March. Later this week, on February 2, Fire Emblem Heroes will launch on both iOS and Android.

Will anything else be discussed or revealed? We’ll soon find out!
