Updated 3/2/17
[Updated 2/10/17 – David Wise Composing Soundtrack]:
I was already interested in Sumo Digital’s upcoming Switch game, Snake Pass. Now that I know the game’s soundtrack is being composed by the legendary David Wise, it’s almost assuredly a day one purchase. I love all of his music to date and I’m sure he’ll come up with some wonderful music for this new project.
Independent developer Sumo Digital, the studio behind AAA blockbusters Sonic & All-Stars Racing: Transformed, LittleBigPlanet 3 and the in-development Crackdown 3, today announced that veteran audio legend David Wise is composing the soundtrack for its’ upcoming slithery physics platformer, Snake Pass. Scheduled to launch later this Spring on PlayStation®4, Xbox One™, Nintendo Switch™ and PC, Snake Pass is a retro-inspired collectathon platformer, where players slither, curl and climb their way through increasingly challenging worlds filled with intricate obstacles and fiendishly mind-bending challenges.
“Snake Pass is inspired by the classic Rare collectathon platformers of the N64 era, so getting David on board for the soundtrack was imperative to complete our vision”, said Seb Liese, Creator of Snake Pass. “His sunny, tropical compositions blend perfectly with the slithery gameplay. He’s truly a composer of rare talent indeed…”

http://bit.ly/2lnkWUU“Once I played the game and saw the captivating world Sumo created, it set my mind on fire. I immediately began composing melodies, then worked with the team to develop these and nail down the feel of the soundtrack,” said David Wise. “We’ve ended up with something that not only pays tribute to the game’s classic inspirations, but also brings something new to the table, just as the game’s mechanics do!”
When a mysterious intruder threatens the tranquility of their home, it’s up to Noodle the Snake and Doodle the Hummingbird to embark on a daring journey to save the day. Controlling this dynamic duo, players must become one with the snake as they slither, curl and climb their way through 15 levels across 4 increasingly challenging themed worlds. Snake Pass is a unique take on the platforming genre that is intuitive and fun to learn, but will gradually test your snake charming skills to the limit!

Leading independent developer Sumo Digital is creating its first original title – Snake Pass. A gorgeous, physical, action-puzzle game that sees the player slither, coil and climb their way through increasingly challenging worlds filled with ever more intricate obstacles and fiendishly mind-bending objectives!
Snake Pass is the wriggling brainchild of Seb Liese, who originally came to Sumo from Holland to work on the LittleBigPlanet team. His prototype of ‘real snake physics’ captured the entire studio’s imagination, winning the company’s first game jam at the end of 2015.
Following the win, a team of professionals from within Sumo was assigned to work with Seb and develop his idea, scaling it up from a ‘snake physics’ tech demo to a playable prototype with fleshed-out levels of reptilian action.
Seb Liese, Lead Designer said, “In the past few months we’ve taken the initial prototype so much further, building in more ‘snakiness’, creating more mechanics that utilise the movement of the snake and building a story.”
“Controlling a character that doesn’t have limbs and climbs in 3D has pushed us into thinking about level design in a different way. There are lots of options to complete the levels and players often surprise us with new and interesting ways to get around.”
Features include:
Multiple levels across four boa-tiful themes
Innovative, physics-based platforming
Call on your wingman for a pick-me-up
Advanced moves: coiling, squeezing, diving and climbing
Time trial mode with global leaderboards
Discover hidden and hard to reach collectibles
