Battle Chasers: Nightwar Preview

Battle Chasers: Nightwar is a new take on the classic role-playing game. It’s based on the Battle Chasers comic book series and features turn-based combat, similar to JRPG greats. The game appears to attempt to blend the strategy of Japanese combat systems with western RPG dungeon crawling mechanics and art. Players will be able to find loot and craft new items and weapons.

The game’s overworld promises to be packed with hidden dungeons, rare bosses and randomly appearing friends and foes. There’s a two-tiered mana system in place to make the turn-based battles more exciting by allowing for random buffs and debuffs. All of the dungeons will be randomly generated, sort of like Diablo with tons of traps to avoid, puzzles to solve, and secrets to discover.

The story unfolds in a nonlinear fashion, giving the player the ability to discover new locations and items on his or her own. The story will be told through finding landmarks and items and will give deeper insight into the mysterious Lost Vale. Simply locating these treasures and vistas will reward Lore Points, which can then be used to upgrade your heroes’ various abilities.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar has been in development for several years now. It’s coming to the Nintendo Switch first before it reaches other platforms. It’s scheduled to release in late summer or early fall.
