Yo-Kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters Preview

Do you remember the heyday of the Pokémon craze? OK, sure last year was probably the most insane it’s ever been, with Pokémon Go and Sun & Moon releasing, but flashback to when it originally came out. The series used to have a tradition of releasing two versions of the same game, but with slight differences. Then, a year or so later a third version would materialize with all the content and even some extra stuff included. We had Yellow come out after Red and Blue. Crystal after Gold and Silver, and on and on.

Well, Level-5 thought they’d follow suit with Yo-Kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters, the third iteration of the same game, but with a bunch of extras packed in. Nintendo is calling this the definitive edition, and if you’ve yet to jump on board with the sequel or love it so much that you can’t get enough, then this one will be a perfect fit for your 3DS.

It’s true that Psychic Specters delivers the full Yo-Kai Watch 2 experience, but it goes further than that by adding new Yo-Kai to befriend, exclusive quests to explore, and the ability to hop on the Express to a brand new resort area not found in the originals.

Other new additions include the ability to befriend Wicked and Boss Yo-Kai from previous games, learn about the origin of the mysterious feline, Darknyan, and experience a revamped Blasters co-op mode to beat powerful new bosses (each player must have a copy of the game and a 3DS).

Yo-Kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters is scheduled to release this fall for 3DS. We’ll have more as its release approaches.
