The Escapists 2 Preview

The Escapists became known as a fun prison break game with retro 16-bit graphics that gave the game a unique look and character all its own. The sequel is making its way to the Nintendo Switch, and it seems like it will be a perfect fit for the naturally occurring drop-in/drop-out co-op mode while on the go or on the big TV.

The Escapists 2 will allow for up to four players to team up and find innovative ways to escape their cells. This time around the prisons are bigger and upgraded to multi-level buildings to break out of. Just like before, there are tons of items to find and this time around you’ll be able to craft even cooler items and weapons to aid in your escape from the law.

The sequel features several improvements, including a completely revamped combat system. Similar to Zelda, you’ll be able to look onto your enemies so you can block as well as unleash both light and heavy attacks. The new graphics feature more detailed animations and environments for you to explore.

Shown off today is a brand new type of prison to break out of: Rattlesnake Springs. This time you’re headed off to the Old West and you’ll have to sneak around Sheriffs, make friends with the nearby horses and infiltrate the dark mine below the prison to find an escape route.

This game looks like a blast to play with some friends. It will release later this year on the Nintendo Switch with local and online multiplayer options.
