Sine Mora EX Preview
Sine Mora EX is rocketing to the Nintendo Switch later this summer. It’s a 2D side-scrolling shoot’em up that promises to provide a unique challenge, where time is the ultimate factor. Based on your gameplay, you’ll get time extensions to progress further in your quest. Shooting down enemies earns you more time, but if you get hit by enemy fire you’ll lose time. If the clock hits zero, you’re dead.
The game features beautiful 3D rendered graphics, although you play on a 2D plane. The camera does spin around and show your ship flying in and out of backgrounds and even through and under enemy bosses. It’s a very cinematic approach in a genre that usually doesn’t have a panning camera whatsoever.
There’s a full-fledged story mode here to really learn about the lore of the world. This is playable with a second player in local co-op mode. The game does feature an M rating, and much like Star Fox you’ll hear a lot of dialog throughout, but don’t be surprised to hear a few F-bombs and other adult language as the story progresses.
The final game will feature 7 beautifully crafted and diverse stages. There are multiple versus modes for competitive multiplayer fun. Over 50 different weapon combinations and time manipulation devices give the game some much-needed variety in the firepower department. An Arcade Mode is on-hand as well, if you crave a more difficult experience. The music is composed by Akira Yamaoka, the sound director of Silent Hill and Shadows of the Damned.
