Over 200,000 Neo Geo Games Sold On Switch; Blazing Star Arrives Today
It almost seems like everything that touches the Nintendo Switch magically sells. This is partially due to the somewhat anemic launch lineup of games on March 3, but Nintendo and its partners have done an amazing job of keeping a steady stream of digital content coming on a weekly basis, many of them excellent games. Although many of these Neo Geo classic games have been made available elsewhere, they seem to be resonating with the Switch crowd with over 200,000 digital games sold in just under two months.

Today a brand new entry in the Neo Geo line has come to the Nintendo Switch’s eShop. Blazing Star is a 2D side-scrolling shoot’em up. Originally released in 1998, this 2-player co-op game has you choosing from six different ships to take on the sinister artificial intelligence known as Brawshella, which has deployed deadly biological weapons. But, let’s be honest, we don’t need a story to give us a reason to blast a bunch of bad guys out of the sky! The game features bright and colorful 2D sprites and is an arcade-perfect port with many enhancements, like game difficulty and display settings to make the game even more enjoyable.
Blazing Star is available right now on the Nintendo Switch eShop for $7.99. Normally these digital titles release on Thursdays, but perhaps this will be a new trend?
