Rumored Mario/Rabbids Crossover Strategy RPG Crops Up Again

It’s long been rumored that Ubisoft and Nintendo have been collaborating on a brand new game for the Nintendo Switch that brings the Mario characters and the Rabbids together in one game. Both Laura Kate Dale from Let’s Play Video Games and Emily Rogers have been insisting that the game is real and on the way. We’ve never denied that, but it has yet to materialize. That may be changing soon though, according to Kotaku.

Apparently the site has received art assets that show off Mario and friends alongside the Rabbids. Kotaku can’t share these images, but they appear to be the real thing. The title of the game should be Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and apparently it’s being created using Ubisoft’s Snowdrop Engine.

According to Kotaku, the game will be a turn-based strategy game, not unlike something we might see in a game like Fire Emblem. It should feature two-player local co-op and as one would expect, plenty of humor. The game is said to feature eight playable characters, including Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi and four Rabbids dressed up as those same characters.

Previous rumors swirling around the title suggest that it will have a sci-fi bend to it, with Mario using a laser gun and other exotic weapons. It remains to be seen how much of this ends up being the real deal, but with E3 just around the corner, and enough sources reporting that the game is in fact real, we expect to see the game properly revealed next month.
