My Nintendo Rewards Scare Up Some Deals

Nintendo has updated its My Nintendo rewards site to offer 40% off of the three classic Konami games that originally appeared on the NES: Castlevania, Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, and Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. You can choose either the 3DS or Wii U versions – which normally retail for $4.99 – on sale for $2.99 if you use your points. You’ll need to spend 200 platinum points for the original Castlevania or 20 gold points for either part 2 or 3.

But, why these games? Well, Netflix has just added the new animated Castlevania show to its service. Nintendo wanted to jump in and join in the festivities:

It’s a story that’s familiar to Castlevania fans: Every 100 years, a powerful evil rises from the dead…and only the Belmont family of vampire hunters can stand in its way.

The original Castlevania™ game was first released for the Nintendo Entertainment System™ in 1986 (ed: actually it released in May 1987 for the NES – it came out in 1986 in Japan for the Famicom), and has since grown into a critically-acclaimed franchise. With a new, animated Netflix series debuting on July 7, it’s a great time to check out the Castlevania games that inspired the show.

Plus, My Nintendo is scaring up fantastic rewards to help you get your hands on the first three Castlevania series games. Redeem your My Nintendo points to get 40% discounts on these classic games, available for digital download via the Virtual Console™ service:
