Nintendo Trademarking “Nintendo Check-In”

Nintendo has filed a trademark for “Nintendo Check-In”. Those of you that are My Nintendo Rewards members with a Nintendo Account may be aware that Nintendo has used a QR Code that allows you to check-in to various events. For example, during Nintendo’s Summer of Play Tour if you scan your QR Code you get a free metal water bottle.

It appears that Nintendo simply wants to make it easier to find places where you can physically visit and check-in. In the past they have suggested that they might expand this to places like movie theaters, concerts, and other entertainment venues. Of course, we fully expect them to utilize this at Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios.
