New Nintendo 2DS XL Launches In Japan; Replaces New Nintendo 3DS & OG 3DS
Japan got two color variations of the New Nintendo 2DS XL today. America will be receiving the teal/black variation on July 28.
To make room on Japanese retailers’ shelves, Nintendo has officially stopped making the original 3DS and the New Nintendo 3DS (original size). NOA had dropped the original 3DS quite a few years ago, so it’s no surprise to see this one finally being discontinued in Japan. The New 3DS is a bit more surprising, but I guess sales just weren’t there for that size. One of the best things about that version was the ability to customize the cover plates. For now, those seeking the original sized screens in Japan will only have the regular 2DS to choose from. Although all sales trends point to most consumers wanting the larger screens.
