Splatoon 2 Has Launched Worldwide; My Nintendo Gets Related Rewards

The moment many Nintendo fans have been waiting for is finally here! Splatoon 2 has officially launched worldwide and it appears to be off to a smashing start. Last night the eShop melted down as thousands of players attempted to download the game at the same time.

Nintendo has put up some new Splatoon 2-related My Nintendo rewards for those wanting to spend some points. They include a 3DS theme, two Splatoon wallpapers, drawing lessons for Swapdoodle, and more! Check them out below. Our full review will come later next week once we’ve had ample time with the online components.

The squid kids called Inklings are back to splat more ink and claim more turf in the Splatoon™ 2 game, a colorful and chaotic 4-on-4 action shooter which launches today. For the first time, take Turf War battles on-the-go with the Nintendo Switch™ system, and use any of the system’s portable play styles for intense local multiplayer* action. Even team up for new 4-player co-op fun in Salmon Run!

Two years have passed since the original Splatoon game was released, and two years have also passed in Inkopolis! So expect a fresh wave of fashion, not to mention new weapons and gear. Dual wield the new Splat Dualies or stick to mainstays like chargers and rollers, which have been remixed with new strategic possibilities. As always, Turf War is the favored sport among Inklings, but they also dig ranked battles, taking down Octarians in a robust single-player campaign, and battling enemy Salmonids in one dangerous part-time job! No matter which way you play, splat at home or on-the-go with Nintendo Switch. Staying fresh never felt so good.

You can play Splatoon 2 with the Joy-Con™ controllers or the Nintendo Switch™ Pro Controller (sold separately), both of which support motion controls for better aiming. A special Splatoon 2 Edition Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is also available for purchase.

The game is compatible with all Splatoon™ series amiibo™ figures. By tapping these amiibo, the figure’s character will appear in the game and befriend players. Befriend an amiibo character and they will remember favorited weapons, gear, outfits and option settings. New versions of the Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl, and Inkling Squid amiibo figures are now available!

My Nintendo members can redeem points for rewards inspired by Splatoon 2, including digital access to the official Splatoon 2 game Starter Guide. This My Nintendo reward includes a 15% discount on digital access to the full eGuide. Other rewards include a Nintendo 3DS system theme, two Splatoon themed wallpapers, and the Swapdoodle™ game DLC: Splatoon drawing lessons. This add-on content (“DLC”) cannot be played without the Swapdoodle game (free download) for the Nintendo 3DS family system.

Splatoon 2 launches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch system on July 21, and can be purchased in stores, in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch, and at Nintendo.com at a suggested retail price of $59.99.
