Cubers Preview
Just when you think you’ve seen it all, here comes a new twist on a classic genre. Taking the Smash TV twin-stick shooter idea of killing everything in an arena, Cubers uses melee weapons to unleash the carnage. It’s being dubbed a “twin stick slasher” and features a character sold into slavery by his family who has to defeat a master of gladiators to reclaim his freedom.
The developers are promising dynamic environments in the four distinct arenas. Each one will feature over ten various traps and obstacles, which can impede your progress, or in some cases help you fight the onslaught of enemies. There are over 25 different enemies to destroy, so you’ll have to change up your tactics and strategies depending on which ones you’re going up against.
Like most games these days, you’ll be able to unlock new skills to develop your character. Over 100 items will be in the game store, including swords, shields, and helmets. The game will feature a leaderboard so you can see how you stack up against the competition.
The game’s main campaign is a solo affair, but you can still play two players in competitive mode. Duel for the high score!
Cubers is scheduled to arrive next year on the Nintendo Switch. We’ll be watching closely to see how this one shapes up.
