Monster Boy And The Cursed Kingdom Getting Hand-Drawn Animation

If you’ve been following the development of Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom you’ll know the game has gone through several graphical revisions. The developers have decided to completely overhaul the characters and their animations in the game. This marks the third time the main character’s sprite has been changed since the game was first shown off a few years ago. They aren’t quite ready to reveal all of the new sprites, but the main character can be seen below:

We rather like the new art direction the game is taking and look forward to seeing the final result. The game is scheduled to release sometime in 2018. Below is the trailer they showed off over a year ago at Gamescom 2016. You can see the old characters and backgrounds that used to be in place. You can see how far the main blue-haired character has come!

The next video comes from our friends at Nintendo World Report. They played a later build of the game earlier this year at PAX East. It shows off the (then) new sprite of the main character. The developers are still putting a new coat of paint on the game and it will be exciting to see what the final picture looks like.
