Nintendo Dominates Japanese Sales Charts In New Year
Famitsu sales data for the first week of January has been released. It tracks video games sales across Japan and it tells the story of how much Nintendo is currently dominating that country. Out of the top 30 best selling games for the week, 24 are on Nintendo systems. If we dig down deeper we see that half of them (15) are Nintendo Switch games, 9 are 3DS, 5 are PS4, and 1 is Vita.
Looking at the software sales numbers for Switch it’s kind of amazing to see such large increases across so many titles. Many newcomers must have received the console for Christmas or New Year’s because the increases week over week are pretty large. For example, Splatoon 2 had a 63% boost over last week with 130,901 sold. Even older games like Super Bomberman R have charted again – it selling almost another 10,000 copies alone.
