Switch Parental Controls App Mentions Switch 5.0.0 Update

The Nintendo Switch Parental Controls App has just received an update that adds some new functionality. It allows parents to whitelist software titles to exclude them from the restricted software setting. In addition Touch ID and Face ID are now allowed for the app if you want to lock it.

But, the most interesting tidbit has nothing to do with the enhancements, but rather the mention at the bottom of the update history. It states that “In order to use some of these features, you will need to update the Nintendo Switch system version to 5.0.0 or later”. What’s that? The Switch currently sits at version 4.1.0, so it looks like we might be in for a system update soon. Will we gain some cool features like folders or customizable backgrounds? Hopefully we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out.
