Nintendo Switch Fastest Selling Console Of All Time & NPD February 2018 Details

January 2018 video game sales were fantastic, and we now know that the momentum has carried over into February as well. Although there really weren’t any blockbuster games released last month (leading to no increase in software sales when compared to last year), both hardware (up 55%) and accessories (up 35%) boosted the total video game market sales to $995 million (up 23%).

Much of the interest comes in the form of hardware sales. Many customers received their tax refunds in February, and what better way to splurge than to buy some new systems? The PS4 hardware was the biggest winner, moving the most units, but it’s the Nintendo Switch that has wowed analysts and consumers alike. In its first twelve months on the market, the Switch has achieved the highest install base for a console in platform history.
