Nintendo Switch eShop Updated With New Featured Category

The Nintendo Switch eShop has always had some great things going for it. For one it’s the speediest of all the consoles. It has also been very easy to navigate and simple to redeem codes. It’s also the most basic looking of all the online shops and it didn’t always have the best visibility for smaller titles.

Well, Nintendo is constantly striving to improve its digital store and offer better visibility to the hundreds of games currently available on the Switch. To that end they have added a brand new section called Featured, which as you might imagine offers up featured content. This is a great way to put a spotlight on some great games that might have been released a few months ago that you might have missed. At this point there are 30 games listed in this particular section.

The Best Sellers section has also received a few improvements. First up, the list has been expanded to a full 30 games. Secondly, you have the ability to filter out the retail games and view only downloadable titles. Basically this is a way to eliminate the big-hitting AAA releases and focus on the smaller indie games. As of this writing Celeste ranks at number 30 out of 30 if looking at all games, but when the download-only games filter is activated it jumps up to the 19th spot, meaning another 11 games make it into the top 30.

No online storefront is perfect, but it’s nice to see the Switch eShop has finally been given a little more functionality. What else would you like to see changed in a future update?
