Anker Partners With Nintendo To Launch Officially-Licensed Portable Power Banks For Switch
Anyone who has taken their Switch on a long trip knows that the battery life isn’t all that long. With a game like Zelda: Breath of the Wild you’re probably looking at about 2.5 hours. While there are plenty of third party power banks to extend the battery, Anker has secured the first license from Nintendo and will be offering two PowerCore options.
The first is the PowerCore 20100 and will arrive in July. It gets up to 15 hours of additional playtime and you can even charge while you play. It recharges in about 3.5 hours and the price is $89.99.
The second choice is the PowerCore 13400, which offers about 9 hours of additional playtime. This one comes in a bit cheaper at $69.99.
Either one seems like a nice option for those who travel a lot. It would be nice to have on extended camping trips as well, especially if access to electricity will be limited. Read on for the full details:
Anker Innovations, a global leader in charging technology and smart, consumer devices, today announced it will launch a series of portable power banks designed to bring hours of additional playtime to the Nintendo Switch.
Anker’s PowerCore 20100 and PowerCore 13400 Nintendo Switch Edition will be the first-ever officially licensed Nintendo batteries to bring USB-C power delivery to the Nintendo Switch, giving gamers up to 15 hours of additional playtime.
U.S. customers will be able to preorder the PowerCore 20100 and the PowerCore 13400 Nintendo Switch Edition in late June, 2018 at GameStop and Anker.com.
“We are excited to partner with Nintendo to bring Anker power delivery technology to the Nintendo Switch,” said Steven Yang, CEO of Anker Innovations. “We believe our new power banks will be this year’s ‘must-have’ have accessory for all Nintendo Switch gamers.”
Uniquely Optimized for the Nintendo Switch
USB-C Power Delivery is a relatively new charging technology that allows mobile products with higher power needs, such as Notebooks and small appliances, to be fast-charged through portable USB-C power banks.Anker worked closely with Nintendo to calibrate its battery technology to intelligently deliver fast charging to the Nintendo Switch. This means that the Nintendo Switch can be fast charged from 0% to 100% in just under 3 hours – even during gameplay – when connected to Anker’s new certified power packs.
