Super Mario Party Goes Online

On today’s Nintendo Treehouse Live it was revealed that Super Mario Party will include an online mode for the first time in the franchise’s history. There wasn’t any mention of being able to play the normal board game mode online, however there is a brand new mode called Mario-Thon where there are five randomized mini-games arranged for players to go through in one run. Whoever has the most coins at the end of the five games wins the match. This mode can be played online with friends or with people from around the world. There will be leaderboards and a ranking system so you can see how you stack up. Plus, special rewards will be unlocked in this mode as well.

This is just one small step into online for the Mario Party series, but if it’s successful maybe the next one will feature full online functionality. We know many gamers have been wanting that for quite some time. Here’s an updated Fact Sheet reflecting the new modes:
