Watch Kotaku Open A Brand New Sealed Copy Of StarTropics
It’s hard to believe but many of our readers have probably never had the opportunity to tear the shrink wrap off of a brand new NES game. It became second nature for us! In fact, most of the time the box never even made it home sealed as we read the instruction booklet in the car.
Kotaku’s Chris Kohler has decided to share the joy of opening a brand new NES game on video. He has a copy of StarTropics that’s still factory sealed – complete with clearance stickers all over the front. Can you believe that someone purchased the game from Toys R Us for a mere 90 cents? Wow!
Part of the cool thing with StarTropics is that it came with a special letter inside the box. The game would later tell the player to dip the letter in water to reveal a secret code to progress the story. So, we get to see Chris dip that letter in water as well! Take a trip down memory lane (or for the first time) and watch the unboxing of StarTropics, 28 years after it released.
