Flip Grip Accessory Plays Switch Games In Vertical Mode (Kickstarter)

If you’re a fan of classic arcade games, you’ll no doubt know that many of them utilized a vertical oriented monitor. With today’s tech primarily focusing on widescreen, playing these games results in huge black bars on the left and right of the screen.

Luckily, when it comes to the Switch many of the developers like Hamster have included vertical modes so users can turn the Switch screen 90 degrees to utilize more screen real estate. The problem is that it’s difficult to play because there haven’t been any great solutions.

Well, the Flip Grip is here to solve this problem! You’ll be able play you Switch in vertical mode with the Joy-Cons attached to the sides of the screen. This looks like a great way to play classic games like Donkey Kong or shmups like Ikaruga.

The Kickstarter page explains so much more, including the concerns about ventilation and blocking the power button. If you’re interested in backing the project you can do so for a mere $12  (plus $3 shipping if in U.S.) to get a Flip Grip later in the year (November estimated ship date). We’re in!
