8 Final Fantasy Games Confirmed For Nintendo Switch

During today’s Nintendo Direct Square Enix announced that it’s bringing Final Fantasy to the Nintendo Switch in a major way. As the segment rolled on my mouth dropped several times as more and more games were revealed. Now, for the PlayStation owners out there these announcements probably weren’t all that spectacular, but for die-hard Nintendo fans it’s the first time some of these games have ever hit a Nintendo platform. So, without further ado, here are the games set in the Final Fantasy universe that were announced for the Nintendo Switch:

  • Final Fantasy VII (HD version)
  • Final Fantasy IX (HD version)
  • Final Fantasy X / X-2 Remaster
  • Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
  • Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD (Available Now)
  • World of Final Fantasy Maxima (November 6)
  • Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy! (Winter)
  • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition (2019)

How’s that for some nice support? Sure, most of these games are a bit on the older side, but I have to admit some of them are tempting me to double-dip thanks to the portable nature of the Switch. I wonder what’s up with Final Fantasy VIII being absent from the games announced? No matter, I honestly never thought we’d see the day where Final Fantasy VII would finally make it onto a Nintendo system!
