Animal Crossing Announced For 2019 Switch Release
It may sound odd to some gamers out there, but probably my favorite part of today’s Nintendo Direct was the confirmation of a brand new Animal Crossing coming to the Nintendo Switch. This series has always been a favorite of mine and I’ve spent hundreds of hours maintaining my village in New Leaf on the 3DS. Since the Wii U flopped and we never got a sequel I was banking on one coming to the Switch, and today we have confirmation!
Unfortunately we didn’t see a single screen or video showing off what the new game will look like. I’m curious to see if the new game will truly innovate and elevate the series or if it will only move the needle forward a tiny bit. I’m hoping for an incredible overhaul with tons of new stuff to buy and things to do. We will just all have to wait a bit longer to see what this game is all about. The game is coming sometime in 2019 exclusively to the Nintendo Switch.
Oh, and can I just add that after a somewhat weak 2018 from Nintendo’s first party studios, it’s great to see 2019 shaping up to be something truly special! There are already more games announced for next year from Nintendo that I’m looking forward to than all of the ones that released this year. Thankfully a bevy of excellent indie games has kept me busy, but next year is going to be off the hook!
