Today marks the release of Sega Ages Out Run for the Nintendo Switch (check out our review here). It’s an awesome arcade conversion!
Coming next month to the Switch under the Sega Ages moniker are Puyo Puyo and Gain Ground. Other games announced for this year include: Alex Kidd, Columns II, Puyo Puyo 2, Space Harrier, Virtua Racing, Sonic 2, and Thunder Force AC. So far all of the Sega Ages games have retailed for $7.99 on the eShop.
- Out Run was first conceived as a racing game called DEAD HEAT, where you drove a Formula One race car, before it became a driving simulator with a commercial car to help set it apart.
- Out Run was also modeled after the American cross-country road race seen in the film The Cannonball Run before planners Yoji Ishiiand Yu Suzuki switched gears to Europe due to the wider variety of landscapes.
- This SEGA AGES release contains tracks added for the 3DS version of Out Run along with all-new arranged versions of songs from the Genesis and Master System releases, such as MIDNIGHT HIGHWAY -PLAYBACK-, and even includes a chiptune version of RADIATION from Out Run 2006: Coast 2 Coast.
- If you enter a high score as the name “YU.” with the period and hold down the X button at the end of Stage 2, you will see a credit for legendary designer Yu Suzuki appear on screen!
