GDC’s 2019 State Of The Game Industry Shows Continued Increases In Switch Development
The 2019 Game Developers Conference is taking place from March 18-22, 2019 in San Francisco. Like last year, they have released a document detailing the State of the Game Industry. They have polled nearly 4,000 game developers on important topics like how many hours a week they work on games, support for unions, which systems they’re currently developing for, and more.
When it comes to the Nintendo Switch, things are looking even better for development of games than they were last year. Last year when asked which platform was your last completed game released on, 5% said the Nintendo Switch. This year that number went up to 9%. When asked which platform(s) you are currently developing games for, Switch saw the biggest year-over-year increase, up to 19% from 12% last year. 45% of respondents said they’re interested in Switch, compared to 38% PS4 – so the interest is definitely with Nintendo’s system!
