Contra Anniversary Collection Includes NES Contra
We previously reported that Konami was bringing Contra Anniversary Collection to the Nintendo Switch sometime this summer, but we didn’t know the full lineup of games included. We had hoped that the original NES Contra would be included because it’s one of the best in the series and it’s been missing in action for the past decade, not appearing on digital services or anywhere else. We’re happy to report that the original game is confirmed, along with the other titles in the collection! Courtesy of IGN, here’s what you can expect when you purchase the game when it comes out via the eShop:
- Contra (NES)
- Super C (NES)
- Contra (Famicom)
- Contra (Arcade)
- Super Contra (Arcade)
- Operation C (Game Boy)
- Contra III: The Alien Wars (Super NES)
- Super Probotector: Alien Rebels (European Super NES)
- Contra: Hard Corps (Genesis)
- Probotector (Mega Drive)
That’s an awful lot of Contra! The Famicom version of Contra is the same as the NES game except it features slightly better visuals. Probotector replaced the human protagonists with robots.
In addition there will be an update to the game after it launches that will include the Japanese versions of these titles:
- Contra (Arcade)
- Super Contra: Alien No Gyakushu (Arcade)
- Super Contra (NES)
- Contra Spirits (Super NES)
- Contra (Game Boy)
- Contra: the Hard Corps (Mega Drive)
Just like prior Konami Anniversary Collections, this one will include a digital history book showcasing some of the early artwork and information. We really enjoyed the Castlevania: Anniversary Collection and can’t wait to play this one soon!
