Famicom Detective Club Games Finally Arrive In The West

They’ve been a long time coming, but finally Nintendo fans in the west can play officially localized versions of two games that, up until now, have been stuck in Japan. Both Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind are now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Each game costs $34.99, but if you buy one of them, you’ll receive $10 off the other, so instead of costing a total of $70 for both it’ll come out to the standard $60 we’re used to paying for Nintendo first party releases. As of now no physical edition has been announced for North America.

These adventure games have you interrogating suspects and finding clues to solve various mysteries. They originally appeared on the Famicom Computer Disk System, an add-on for the Famicom (the Japanese version of the 8-bit NES) that never managed to make it out of Japan. The two games have been fully updated and overhauled with amazing new graphics, full voices, and subtitles for western audiences. Check out the trailer and official press release below. In the meantime, I’ll get busy starting to solve the first case!
